The Avengers Youth Mentoring Organization (AYMO) is seeking Summer Associate Leaders to support our 2026 Detroit Summer Workforce & Youth Development Program, serving 85 youth ages 5–13, divided into structured age-based groups.
This is a paid leadership opportunity through our AmeriCorps VISTA Summer Associate partnership, designed for individuals passionate about youth development, leadership, and community impact.

- Chess Park Build Project (Ages 8–10)
Program Overview
Selected candidates will lead and support youth programming within their assigned age group in a structured, hands-on learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise youth within assigned age groups
- Facilitate engaging, hands-on learning activities
- Maintain attendance, structure, and accountability
- Support youth development, behavior management, and leadership growth
- Collaborate with program staff and other site leaders
Schedule & Commitment
- Onboarding Begins: June 15, 2026
- Training Week: June 29 – July 3, 2026 (Mandatory)
- Program Dates: July 6 – August 7, 2026
- Total Commitment: 8 weeks
- Schedule: Monday–Thursday, approximately 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
- Participation in key program events, including the Youth Networking Event on July 17
Compensation
- $957 bi-weekly stipend (AmeriCorps VISTA Summer Associate Program)
Minimum Qualifications
- Interest in youth development, education, or community leadership
- Strong communication and leadership ability
- Reliable, professional, and able to manage groups of youth
- Experience working with youth preferred
