Taryn is a Zoonotic and Vector-borne Disease Epidemiologist for the Indiana State Department of Health. Based out of Indianapolis, Taryn’s main responsibility is to examine diseases at a population level in order to treat and prevent future outbreaks. Working with zoonotic diseases (from close contact with animals) and vector-borne (from flea and tick bites), Taryn analyzes data from health labs to track down cases of her assigned diseases in the state. After investigating the individual case, she will decide whether or not this is a contained case or the start of an outbreak that will require county or state level support.
