Literacy Council of SWLA

The Literacy Council of SWLA, Inc. is a community-based, non-profit organization committed to literacy and lifelong learning. The purpose is to improve educational skills in Southwest Louisiana and raise awareness about the impact on individuals and the community.

They provide services that help members of our community:

  • improve their foundational skills in reading, math, and writing.
  • prepare for the HiSET exam and earn a LA high school diploma.
  • access college level training and prepare for skilled labor jobs.
  • prepare to work in jobs that pay family sustaining wages.
  • improve their English skills – speaking, listening, reading, writing.

We have a dedicated staff available to assist students in Calcasieu, Jeff Davis, Cameron,  and Beauregard parishes.
